Forethought

Forethought

Sims That Plan Ahead — Smarter Autonomy

Your Sims think several actions ahead. Today a Sim picks one action at a time, at random. That is why a starving Sim goes to bed. Forethought gives them a goal and the sequence of actions to reach it: go to the kitchen, cook, eat, do the dishes.

The game still validates and animates everything. Forethought only decides what to do next; on failure, back to the original behaviour.

Ten-second looping video, no burnt-in text: a sequence of three or four clearly planned actions. It is the most important block of the page. It will be filmed in game after the demonstration phase; nothing is edited before.
Everything runs locally No network No key No account No cost

The problem

You have seen the scene a hundred times: the hunger bar is red, and your Sim goes to bed. It doesn't choose badly — it doesn't choose at all: it draws an action at random among those within reach.

The solution

A goal, then a coherent sequence of actions to reach it, instead of one action drawn at random. The action model is not written by hand: it is read from the game's tuning files, where every interaction already describes what it requires and what it produces.

See the decision

You see why they do what they do: the current goal, the plan, and the alternatives set aside. That is what makes the mod credible, and what lets you overrule it.

Works alongside

The big autonomy mods decide what is attractive; this one decides what to do next. They coexist.

Compatibility list, written after the test phase — never before.

What the mod does not do

No new objects.

No furniture, no clothes, no places.

No animations.

Everything you see on screen comes from the game.

No generated dialogue.

Your Sims don't talk more than before, and nothing leaves your machine.

No memories panel.

There is nothing to read, only Sims who follow through.

It replaces nothing.

The game validates, routes and animates as before; on failure, it takes back control on its own.

No score retuning.

Other mods do that very well; this one is built to coexist with them.

Installing — and uninstalling

1

One single file

Download the mod file. There is only one.

2

Drop it into Mods

Straight into the game's Mods folder, not in a sub-sub-folder.

3

To remove it

Delete the file. Your game goes on as before: the mod writes nothing into the save.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with my other mods?

The compatibility list will be published after the test phase. Until then, nothing is promised.

What about performance?

To be measured in game before any number is written. Nothing is promised before.

In which language?

The mod's interface is in English first. French follows.

Which game version?

Each mod version states the game patch it was tested with — in the version log below.

Version log

Version — game patch — what changes. No version exists yet. The first line will be written on release day.

What is not true yet

Written the day it is measured, never before.

The core of the mod is written and tested outside the game. Work inside the real game has not started.

No video, no capture, no figure on this page exists yet: the reserved spots await the demonstration phase.

No release date is announced.
